Co-production Projects
The Co-production Projects section at Film Bazaar aims to present to the world feature-length (75 min or more) projects that are Indian stories.
At Film Bazaar these selected projects receive the opportunity to be pitched by their representatives to potential collaborators for finance, distribution, and artistic support through one-to-one meetings.
Criteria for Selection
- Films must be original, authentic, and balance an Indian story with a universal theme.
- Films at the stages of anywhere between development, pre-production or production, as long as there is a producer attached to the project, are eligible to apply.
- A fully-developed screenplay draft with dialogues translated into English must be ready for presentation at the market. Extracts of the screenplay will be called for at the time of application selections.
- For which there is a potential international market.
Specific Conditions
- There is no entry fee for applications.
- None of the submitted materials can be returned to the sender.
- Once a project has been selected, one representative should be present during the 4 days of the market
- Film Bazaar requires a line or the Film Bazaar Logo to be taken up in the credits of the film once finalized. The following sentence should be mentioned in the credit list: “[film title] has been presented at the Film Bazaar India”. The Film Bazaar logo can be sent upon request
How to apply
Entry submission deadline:
Film Bazaar will take place from November 23-26, 2010. The deadline for submission is September 30, 2010.
Confirmed attendance at the pitching training one day prior to the event on November 22 and confirmed participation at the market.
Applicants to provide:
- Synopsis (1-2 pages) in English
- Treatment (8-10 pages) in English, NB: full scripts are not accepted as replacement of the treatment
- Statement of the director on the project
- Biography/ filmography of the director
- Biography/ filmography of the producer
- Company profile(s)
- Budget outline
- Finance plan
- DVD of previous work of the director
Applications should include all the above requested documents. Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration for selection.

FAQ’s
1. What kinds of film projects are eligible for Film Bazaar co-production market?
Film Bazaar is open for feature-length fiction (75 min and above) and non-fiction films with potential for theatrical distribution.
We do not accept short film or TV documentary submissions. Only projects intended for theatrical release.
The projects can be in all phases of production from screenplay to rough cut, but they have to be new or recent and not have explored all possible avenues of financing, have not yet made the round of all financiers and other festivals & markets.
2. What subjects are eligible for the projects?
All South Asian themed feature-length fiction film projects are eligible, provided they have the potential for co-producing with an international partner.
3. Do you consider feature length docu-drama films or animation films to be eligible?
Yes, if intended for theatrical release.
4. How often do you open call for entries?
We have one call for entries each year for the co-production market.
5. I do not have the budget ready, can I still apply?
No, because we will accept only complete applications. If you are unable to provide any of the following information then please consider applying for next year. We encourage you however to attend Film Bazaar as a delegate to gain an understanding of the market and prepare for the 2010 edition.
6. Will you return my application materials after the selection process has been completed?
No.
7. May I send application materials, including screenplay pages, in a language other than English?
All written materials must be in English irrespective of the intended shooting language of the film. Audiovisual material of past work or rough cut (DVD only), if in another language, must be subtitled with the English translation please.
8. Do you have a preferred format for presenting the production budget?
MS Excel.
9. Do you have a preferred format for the screenplay?
A pdf formatted as per standard screenplay format elements such as dialogue, scene headings, characters names, and so on.
10. How many projects are selected and by whom?
10 projects get selected for 2010 by the Film Bazaar selection committee of film professionals from around the world. The names will be announced.
11. What are my obligations if the project gets selected?
Project representatives’ must be present for the duration of the Film Bazaar from the afternoon of November 22, 2010.
Representatives of the selected projects will have to travel and attend Film Bazaar at their own expense and pay the delegate registration fee. However, accommodation to 1 participant per project will be provided by Film Bazaar.
